The History of The Prairie Hotel

South Australia’s favourite outback pub is owned and run by Ross and Jane Fargher, who in 1991 decided to buy their local pub. With a strong connection to the region - as a fourth generation pastoralist and cattleman - Ross and his wife Jane have since transformed the property.

Whilst The Prairie Hotel has been an integral element to the Flinders Ranges tourism experience for 30 years, the business received funding in 2021 to expand its services. In doing so, the hotel now offers refurbished accommodation and restaurant facilities as well as a new Brewhouse.

These exciting developments support the involvement of next generation Fargher Family members at the characterful Flinders hotel.

If I could give 6 stars I would. Loved this place! A+ for everything. Rustically sophisticated if you know what I mean. Interesting and delicious native food choices - emu parfait lipsmackingly great - indigenous art gallery vibe, with some seriously good art for your visual pleasure, and awesome service. All this after exploring spectacular Flinders Ranges country. As good as it gets.
